This area of training/mentoring is about helping people understand how to better control and develop the executive and emotional sectors of their brain. This includes learning how to more easily take in information, process it and make better decisions. This part of the Program helps deliver performance improvement and consistency in the key areas of self -discipline, focus and attitude. ‘We used this process to assist our young Knights players to understand, not only what it takes to be a successful athlete, but more importantly a successful person’
Troy Fletcher - Newcastle Knights 'Old Boy' External Excellence
It’s about being able to tune into others – to better ‘read’ what they’re thinking and feeling and then using that to communicate more effectively. This is where people learn how to truly lead. How to persuade, inspire and empathise in order to create a culture that optimises the effectiveness of all. It can be an elusive skill for some who have spent many years focused on and rewarded for their analytical skills, reliant primarily on their own efforts. However, understanding the mental processes at play and using the adjustment tools learned people can greatly develop their relationship and leadership skills. People with highly refined external excellence skills can be identified by:- - The fact that people really listen when they speak
- Their ability to influence others without resorting to criticism or condemnation
- Optimism – they see opportunities in most situations.
- Their relaxed disposition – they are comfortable in their own skin’
- Despite workload and other pressures they seem to always have time to empathise with others.
- The way they seem to easily find time for the little things
- A patient, genuine interest in others
Their ability to control their emotions during robust discussions- Their humility
- Their charisma - others want to follow them
- How easily they give feedback without offending
- How easily they manage clients and convert prospects
- plus others……
Most of us know that there is a world of difference between having knowledge and applying it in a way that makes sustainable changes. That’s why the Program uses a model of ‘spaced repetition’, critical in effecting change quickly. ‘Learning better methods for ensuring quality and timeliness was an important gain for us however seeing our people become expert relationship managers has been a real boon for our practice’
