Waste Audit Process

Step 1: Facilitated Workshop to identify ideas and areas where inefficiency may be present.  You will use simple and effective creativity and planning techniques to ensure you get off to a great start.  This meeting will identify a small number of key areas to focus on, such as marketing processes, customer mix, transport and travel costs etc.  We will then form a small number of project teams, with team leaders allocated who are tasked with the job of investigating one or two of these broad areas.

Step 2: Coordinated Project Teams.  Our experienced facilitator will coordinate these project teams through the waste audit process.  They will:

Week 2 – Now Analysis. More data about the issue is gathered. Surveys are conducted and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) determined. Barriers to change are identified and discussion of what is possible commences.

Week 3 – Where Analysis. The team defines the vision for the final outcome. A report to senior management ensures that they are on the right track. Possible solutions are tested.

Week 4 – Data Analysis. This week sees the team analysing the data they have collected to determine what is key to their project. This week is an important one for the team as final solutions are normally clarified.

Week 5 – Draft Plan. The team is encouraged to attempt to draft their plan this week so that they find out what is still missing in both their data and logic. Management is normally briefed on likely outcomes at this stage so that corrections can be made as required.

Week 6 – Develop Solutions. Here the final plan is drafted, opportunities quantified and costed, and presentations start being prepared.

Week 7 – Design Presentation. This is normally a catch-up week with lots of last minute hitches to resolve.

Week 8 – The Presentation. The final meeting is held with senior management present. Teams are recognised and rewarded for their work, future actions determined and teams reviewed for the next round of teams.
